Floodlight Baseball is a baseball dice game made by Wood Studios. This page explains what the game keeps on your device, what it sends to our server, and how to have it deleted. It covers the game on this website and the PC, iPhone and Android apps.
- There are no accounts, no ads, and no tracking or analytics.
- We never ask for your real name, email address, phone number, location, contacts or photos.
- Most of the game stays on your device. Our server only gets what it needs for online games, the Daily Challenge leaderboard and save codes, and only when you use them.
- The game doesn't load anything from other companies (no ad networks, trackers or outside fonts). Its only server is our host, Netlify.
- We don't sell or rent anyone's information, and we don't share it with advertisers.
What stays on your device
Your settings, saved games, franchises, achievements, challenge results, the names you give your teams and players, and the nickname you play under are stored on your device (in the browser's storage on the website, or in the app's storage). They don't leave your device unless you use one of the features below. Clearing this website's data in your browser, or uninstalling the app, deletes them.
The game also makes up a few random IDs on your device, for example to keep your online record together if you change your nickname. They are random letters and numbers, not linked to your name, your phone or any account.
What goes to our server, and when
Online games (Play now, or a game with a code)
When you play online, the server gets your nickname, your team (its name, player names and abilities), each move of the game, the quick messages you send (picked from a fixed list, so there is no typed chat), your random IDs, and the times you last checked in. The other player sees your nickname and team, and anyone with the game's code can watch the game. While you look for a game with Play now, your nickname and team wait in line on the server, and they are removed shortly after you stop looking. Online games are deleted automatically about a week after the last move.
Online franchises
An online franchise is a franchise you share with friends. The server keeps the franchise itself, each member's nickname, club and random ID, and the results of league games, so everyone in the league can keep playing. It stays on the server so the league can keep going. Email us with the league's code if you'd like it deleted.
Daily Challenge leaderboard
Only if you post a score: the server keeps your nickname, score, stars, difficulty and the date, with a random ID so your best score replaces older ones. Anyone playing that day's challenge can see the top nicknames and scores. Email us if you'd like your name taken off a board.
Save codes
Only if you ask for a save code: the server keeps the saved game you upload, under a 6-character code, so you can load it on another device. Anyone who has the code can load that save. Codes are kept so they keep working; email us the code if you'd like one deleted.
Nicknames
Nicknames and team names are checked for rude words. Please don't use your full real name as a nickname, especially for children.
Hosting and links
- Hosting. The website and server run on Netlify. Like any website, Netlify handles your IP address and basic details of each request (such as the time and your browser type) to deliver the game, and keeps short-lived logs. We can see those logs for a short time and use them only to keep the game running, such as checking that the server is working and staying within its limits. We don't use them to identify players.
- Links. The game links to our newsletter sign-up (Mailchimp), our Discord and our X account. Those open the other service, and its own privacy policy applies there.
- App stores and Steam. If you get the game from the App Store, Google Play or Steam, that store handles your download (and, on Steam, achievements) under its own privacy policy. We only see the general statistics the store gives every developer, such as download counts. We never see your store account details.
Children
Floodlight Baseball is for all ages and doesn't ask anyone for personal information. If you're a parent and think your child put personal information in a nickname, a team or a player's name, email us and we'll delete it.
Who we share information with
Only the services that run the game (Netlify, for hosting and storage), or anyone the law requires us to share it with. Nobody else.
Your choices
- Everything except online play, the leaderboard and save codes works without our server.
- You can clear what's on your device at any time by clearing this website's data in your browser or uninstalling the app.
- To have something deleted from our server, email us with your nickname and the game code, league code or save code if you have it. We'll delete it and let you know.
Security
Game and save codes are random, and the server only accepts moves from the players in a game. No system is perfect, so please don't put anything private in nicknames, team names or player names.
Changes
If we change how the game handles information, we'll update this page and the date at the top.
